In manufacturing, the following types of production data are recorded:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Order details:<\/strong> Order number, operation, cost center, workstation, what is being produced at which workstation and where the order stands in its progress.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Time data:<\/strong> Setup times, production times, downtime, and operational ancillary activities, the basis for post-calculation and efficiency analysis.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Quantities:<\/strong> Good quantity, scrap quantity, rework quantity \u2014 reported directly at the operation, without manual transfer to the ERP system.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Personal details:<\/strong> Deployment times, shift assignments, and activity records \u2014 for personnel planning and cost centers.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Quality data:<\/strong> Structured inspection of quantitative and qualitative quality data with a usage decision, recorded directly at the workstation and transferred to CAQ systems (Computer Aided Quality).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Material data:<\/strong> Material withdrawals per order and operation \u2014 for accurate post-calculation and inventory management.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Batch data:<\/strong> Batch allocation, serial numbers and seamless traceability \u2014 particularly relevant in pharmaceuticals, food and automotive.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Fault data:<\/strong> Manual qualification of downtime and scrap with documentation of causes and measures as a supplement to the automatically recorded machine data.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How does a PDA system capture this data?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In practice, data collection is carried out via stationary PDC terminals at workstations, but increasingly also via tablets, industrial smartphones, or handheld devices, wherever feedback is required away from fixed workstations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Typical data capture methods in a modern PDA system:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Stationary terminals:<\/strong> Rugged industrial terminals directly at the workstation \u2014 for fast feedback via touch input or barcode scan, also operable while wearing gloves.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Mobile devices:<\/strong> Tablets and handheld devices for flexible feedback in assembly, maintenance, or at changing workstations.
